6 Professional Rules To Follow When Transplanting Plants

You know you need to compress the soil, but how not to endanger the root when doing so? How much exactly should you water the new plant? Read these short tips and transplant your plants like a professional florist.

1.You must slowly remove the plant from the pots. For easier removal you can tap the bottom and on the side of the pot. If you can’t remove it like that, you can try sinking the pot in water.

2. The new container should be 1-1,5 in larger in diameter than the previous one. In it, the plant will be stable, and the root may well penetrate the fresh soil.

3. Cover the hole at the bottom of the pot with a piece of broken clay pot. Before you pour fresh soil, place a layer of granules, gravel or coarse sand.

4. Place the plant in the middle of the new pot, fill the pot with soil at all sides and press it well. Let the level be about 3/4 inch lower than the edge of the pot so that the water does not spill.

5. Lightly bump the pot on the floor. Then add soil, and repeat the process to compact the soil. Water thoroughly, until the water begins to leak through the holes on the bottom.

6. The soil should be hard, but not too compact. After watering, it should not be compressed, because the plant can get ill.
