Natural Uses For Baking Soda In The Garden

1. Discourage Weeds

Pour or clear baking soda in a thick layer into cracks on a walkway or patio. The baking soda should kill any little weeds already sprouted and keep new ones from coming up.

2. Kill Cabbage Worms

Mix equals parts flour and baking soda and clean the plants (cabbage, broccoli, kale) which are being eaten by cabbage worms. They usually die in a day or two. Repeat as required.

3. Clean Your Hands

After spending your day in the garden and soil, clean your hands by rubbing your wet hands with baking soda.

4. Make a non-toxic fungicide

Blend 4 tsp of baking soda and 1 gallon of water. Use on roses for dark spot fungus and furthermore on grapes and vines when the fruit initially starts to show up.

5.  Kill Crabgrass

Just wet the crabgrass, pour a substantial amount of baking soda on the weed. The crabgrass should begin dying in two or three days.

Alert: When applying the baking soda make sure not to get it on your grass, because an excessive amount of baking soda can burn it.

6. Discourage Gnats In Soil and Fungus on Leaves

Blend in 1 gallon of water, 4 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp biodegradable cleanser. Blend well and then spray the contaminated foliage or soil as required.

7. Spray to treat and prevent powdery mildew

Powdery mildew is bringing on real issues with impatiens , additionally it can be an issue for different plants, such as lilacs, cucumbers, squash and zinnias.

Spray recipe: 1 tbsp of baking soda, 1 gallon of water, 1 tbsp of vegetable oil, 1 tbsp of dishwashing liquid.
