Be diligent and proactive in the winter. Sow aromatic plants in the greenhouse in the garden or in pots. For growing spice plants in a warm garden, the most suitable are those with woody stems.
They look beautiful in the pot, do not grow high, yet they have a strong aroma. The basic condition for their successful growing is to provide them with conditions for growth and development, approximately the same as the natural ones in the southern parts of the country.
These plants require sufficient heat, light, moisture and nutrient soil. Be careful not to put the herbs in the shade, that is, not to leave them without the light they need. Place the pots on bright gravel or on a whiteboard, and cover the ground with a tiny white gravel.
It is best to put them on a shelf because there is always less light on the ground. The pots should be turned around often so that the plants do not bend in the constant search for light. Water them only through the day, and when it’s warm. During the winter, the wet soil is harmful for the plants, therefore avoid frequent watering.
In nature, these plants grow in dry and often dark places and therefore do not put humus soil in pots, but rather fill them with dry soil or with a mixture of soil, sand and clay granulate. Transplant them in spring, after the plants are well rooted in the winter.
